May 17th, 2019 was another fun night as SW Hackett Lodge again, sponsored the Sequoia Elementary School Spelling Bee.  Sequoia's Principal, Mr. Kissel is involved and rightfully proud of his school and students.  He is always grateful, and expresses his thanks to SW Hackett for sponsoring the Spelling Bee.  As usual we had a small but strong supporting contingent from the lodge.  The evening was again fun and exciting for the students, teachers and parents.  The winners of the three grades, Third, fourth and fifth, were presented with medallions and then Wor. Jim Achenbach, PM, and the Partnership in Education representative, presented monetary awards.  $75 for 1st place, $50 for 2nd place and $25 for the 3rd place winners of each grade.

Because it is so important, I continue to repeat the statement below:

Although you are encouraged to support the Partnership in Education Program when you receive your dues notice, you are again asked to contribute at any time.  Our Teacher of the Year Award night, food and presents during the holiday season, and sponsorship of the Spelling Bee are worthy and wonderful events.  The money used does not come out of Lodge funds – it is a separate account that is funded by the generosity of the Brethren.  Please consider donating today!

Sincerely & Fraternally,
Bro Jim Achenbach, PM
Chairman, Public Schools Committee

Principal Kissel explains the rules to the 3rd graders that are seated and ready.
The kids work hard to prepare for this event and the possibility of winning an award.

Now it is he 4th graders as they anxiously await their turn at the mic.

Confident yet a bit nervous, the fifth graders are on the "hot-seat".
Know that win or lose, all the kids were great and we are proud of all of them.

All smiles from the winners.  Third grade in front, then fourth grade and top step is the fifth graders.

The fifth graders are presented with their awards

And the fourth grade winners receive their monetary awards.

Last, but certainly not least, the third grade winners are happy to receive their money.

The winners pose with Principal Kissel and some of the SW Hackett Brothers.

From the picture here and below you can see there was a nice turnout.  (Sorry for the blurry picture below).

Thanks to the Hackett crew that did attend as we hope more of you will be there next year
for the fun and support.
