The Hiram Award Committee informed the Master that Worshipful Norman Chris Parker, was selected to be honored as the recipient of the Hiram Award for 2022.  Worshipful Chris was raised a Master Mason on October 29, 2013 in Black Mountain Lodge No. 845.  He affiliated with S.W. Hackett Lodge No. 574 on July 3, 2018.  Worshipful Chris came to our lodge at a time when we certainly needed the help, but then he did not just fill a chair, he brought with him a real energy to do what he could to help SW Hackett, and worked hard to move up to Master.  When Covid, then the Scottish Rite flood, took away almost both of his years in the East, it didn’t depress him or stop him from working hard for his lodge.  He continually worked with our Secretary Worshipful Dimiter to keep all the necessary lodge requirements taken care of.  He took over the Trestleboard and with his hard work and his lovely wife Finesse’s creativity, they made our Trestleboard truly one of the best.  And, after a year and a half of no real chances to “get together”, He didn’t let anything stand in his way of having a Lodge picnic.  He reserved the biggest and best gazebo, at Santee Lakes recreation center and hosted the whole affair.  He and Finesse invested much time and money to make this a very memorable event.  They brought enough food to feed all that attended with much left over.  We all had a wonderful time.

Because of this dedication and continual work in and for the lodge, the Hiram Award committee selected Worshipful Parker as deserving of this prestigious honor. To be chosen the Hiram Award recipient is the highest honor that can be bestowed upon a Mason, aside from being elected to, and serving as, the Master of his Lodge.
